Authorised Person (AP) – Data Centre Projects

ROSS Cx is seeking an experienced Authorised Person (AP) to join our growing European Data Centre team in the Netherlands.
This is a key technical role responsible for the safe execution of HV and LV switching operations across large-scale mission-critical facilities. Working alongside Commissioning Leads, Energy Marshals, Construction Managers, and Client Representatives, you will play an important role in delivering world-class data centre projects safely and efficiently.
As the AP, you will be responsible for electrical safety, energisation activities, switching operations, and permit systems throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the project, operating under the direction of the appointed SAP.
AP Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out HV and LV switching activities on site in accordance with approved switching plans.
- Execute and document switching schedules under the direction of the Senior Authorised Person.
- Manage Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Permit to Work (PTW) processes.
- Coordinate energisation activities with commissioning, construction, and client teams.
- Ensure compliance with NEN3140, NEN3840, EN50110-1, and project-specific electrical safety standards.
- Conduct switching operations up to 33kV as directed.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
- Support commissioning and start-up activities through to project completion.
- Maintain accurate records of switching operations, permits, and safety documentation.
Ideal Experience:
- NEN3140 trained and appointed for working on LV systems in accordance with EN50110-1.
- NEN3840 trained and appointed for HV switching in accordance with EN50110-1.
- Recognised NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification or equivalent.
- Completed Appointed Person training up to 33kV (NEN3840).
- Proven experience conducting HV and LV switching operations.
- Strong knowledge of LOTO and Permit to Work systems.
- Previous appointment letters demonstrating experience as an Authorised Person.
- Experience in executing switching plans and energisation activities.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Several years of experience operating as a designated AP on complex electrical projects.
Desirable:
- Previous Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, or Industrial project experience.
- Experience supporting commissioning and integrated systems testing activities.
- Familiarity with Energy Marshal procedures and energisation management processes.
- Experience working within multinational project teams.
