We are currently recruiting for a dependable and experienced Logistics Planner to join our team in Fonthill. The ideal candidate will be working in a warehouse/logistics administrative environment as well as engagement with drivers, warehouse and other operatives.
Responsibilities/Key Objectives:
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Plan and optimise daily delivery and installation schedules for white goods, televisions and other deliveries, ensuring efficient use of vehicles, drivers and installation teams across multiple routes.
Allocate jobs to vehicles and crews using effective route planning, considering geographic location, delivery sequence, product type, installation requirements, vehicle capacity and available skills as well as driver hours as applicable.
Coordinate delivery routes across multiple locations, balancing customer requirements, delivery capacity, travel time and operational efficiency while minimising delays, failed deliveries and rescheduling.
Liaise closely with warehouse, customer service, departmental and retail sales and support teams and installation teams to ensure orders are available, complete and ready for delivery with any issues or concerns escalated and/or dealt with in a timely manner and to reach a positive outcome.
Monitor the live delivery operation throughout the day and proactively manage delays, breakdowns, cancellations, failed deliveries and other exceptions. Maintain accurate delivery and installation schedules ensuring all customer and operational information is up to date.
Communicate effectively internally with customer service and support teams across retail and departments, installers and externally with customers and third-party contractors to provide updates and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
Produce operational reports for analysis of delivery and installation performance, including on-time delivery, first-time completion, failed deliveries, jobs per route, driver and resource utilisation and customer service levels.
Work with management to identify opportunities to improve route planning, delivery capacity, installation productivity and overall operational efficiency. Contribute to continuous improvement of the logistics operation through data analysis, process improvement and effective use of planning technology.
Ensure all planned activities comply with company procedures, health and safety requirements, driver regulations and customer service standards.
Skills and Competencies
Strong ability to build efficient delivery and installation routes, balancing geography, customer time windows, vehicle capacity and crew capability.
Excellent ability to manage high volumes of jobs, changing priorities and tight delivery schedules while maintaining accuracy.
Ability to react quickly to delays, breakdowns, failed deliveries and operational issues and find practical solutions.
Strong communication skills with drivers, installers, warehouse teams, internal stakeholders and customers to ensure smooth execution.
Confident using transport planning, delivery management and scheduling systems, with the ability to analyse operational data and identify efficiency improvements. Good geographical knowledge of Dublin and the greater Leinster area.
Computer literate: use of email is a requirement and a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Numbers a distinct advantage. Previous experience handling telephone enquiries.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with delivery routing and/or other planning software
Experience within a multi-drop, home delivery or two-person delivery operation, ideally involving large or bulky products and installation services
Full clean driving licence
