Director – Corporate Tax & Transactions Advisory
Dublin | Grant Thornton Ireland
The Grant Thornton Ireland Tax Team is a growing team of over 300 specialists with deep industry, sector and technical knowledge.
Grant Thornton Ireland’s Tax team is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Director to help shape the next stage of our Corporate Tax & Transactions Advisory practice.
This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of our deals ecosystem. Working closely with our market-leading Corporate Finance team (ranked No. 1 Irish M&A advisor in the 2024 and 2025 Pitchbook and Experian league tables), you will advise dynamic Irish and international businesses, private equity investors, corporates and entrepreneurs on complex transactions — bringing sharp tax insight, commercial judgement and practical solutions to every stage of the deal lifecycle.
As Director, you will play a key role in leading significant transaction tax engagements, developing client relationships with our extensive corporate client base, supporting Partners in winning new work, and building a high-performing team. You will be joining an established and growing practice with strong momentum, a clear ambition for continued growth, and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.
As Director, you will:
- Lead high-profile transaction tax engagements across buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence, M&A structuring and wider tax structuring projects, delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice to clients.
- Work side-by-side with Grant Thornton’s Corporate Finance team, bringing integrated deal advisory expertise to clients and ensuring tax considerations are embedded early and effectively in transaction planning.
- Act as a trusted adviser to clients on complex tax issues arising on transactions, combining deep technical expertise with strong commercial awareness.
- Build and deepen client relationships, taking time to understand each client’s business, strategy, objectives and deal drivers.
- Identify and convert opportunities to provide additional services to new and existing clients, supporting the continued growth of the practice.
- Support business development activity, working with Partners and colleagues across Tax, Corporate Finance and the wider firm to originate, shape and deliver compelling client solutions.
- Manage the financial performance of engagements, including budgets, recoverability and personal financial targets.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of tax professionals, providing technical guidance, career support and day-to-day leadership.
Collaborate across the firm and with third-party advisers to deliver joined-up, multidisciplinary advice to clients.

Skills and attributes
We are looking for someone who brings:
- CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualification.
- Significant post-qualification experience in corporate tax, ideally gained in a large practice, Big Four or top-tier professional services environment; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Strong transaction tax experience, including tax due diligence, M&A structuring and complex tax advisory work.
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to translate technical tax issues into clear, practical advice for clients and deal teams.
- Proven experience leading teams, with a genuine interest in people development, performance and wellbeing.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, including clients, Partners, Corporate Finance colleagues and other advisers.
A proactive, growth-oriented approach, with the ambition to help build a leading transactions tax practice in the Irish market.
