Senior Legal Counsel - Programme Manager

Due to expanding remit and requirements in the SEAI Legal Team we have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel within the Governance and Procurement Department.
This role will involve working with other legal colleagues and guiding and mentoring them in providing legal advice to the organisation on its activities and functions This position will play a key role in providing legal advice across SEAI functions.
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI's legal function.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

Candidates must be currently enrolled as a practising solicitor in the State or have been called to the Bar in the State and entered on the Roll of Practising Barristers maintained by the LSRA.

A degree (a minimum NFQ Level 7 or equivalent) in Law or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of five years' directly relevant post-qualification experience working as an in-house counsel, solicitor in practice or barrister.

Experience of advising on contract, commercial and/or corporate law transactions.

A proven track record of success at managing a diverse case load and meeting deadlines.

Proven experience of excellent report writing and high standard of general written and oral communication skills.

Have practical experience of providing legal advice to a government department, public body or regulated entity.

Good understanding of relevant public sector codes including the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.

Experience in providing legal opinions on statutory interpretation.

A strong understanding of data protection and protected disclosures legislation.

Have experience in in the conduct of litigation or in managing the conduct of litigation, including before the Superior Courts.

Evidence of knowledge and understanding of case law in the area of renewable energies and sustainable development and other relevant Irish legislation and European Law (particularly EED, EPBD and RED).

Proficiency in the Irish Language.

Experience or knowledge of delivering positive customer experiences.
The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland. To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate's application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested. Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
