Bridge St Bar, Castlebar — experienced staff
Bridge St isn't only a bar. On a given week the same building runs a specialty coffee programme, a specced cocktail list, Bridge of Song, Castlebar Comedy Club, and Seomra, our coworking space. That mix is the job's appeal - a Tuesday afternoon and an All-Ireland Saturday are two different trades, and we need people who can work both.
We're hiring across a few shapes at the moment — mid-week afternoons and evenings, and weekend evenings. Rather than post them separately, we'd rather meet good people first and build the hours around what suits you.
What the job actually is
Nobody here is "just bar staff". Everyone on the team carries a defined role with named expectations — the cocktail programme, the cellar, the front of a busy room, leading a section on an event night. You'll be told plainly what yours is, and you'll be reviewed against it rather than against a mood.
What we're looking for
- Experience in a busy bar, and the ability to hold quality while the room is at pace
- Cocktail-capable, or genuinely willing to learn to our spec book — we don't freestyle
- Availability on the big dates. The Christmas run, Paddy's weekend, All-Ireland weekends and Four Days Walk are the days the business is actually hard. We ask at interview and we build the roster around them.
- Close-down and cleaning are part of a shift, not a favour. We're honest about that up front.
Pulling a good pint and holding a conversation are still the core of it. If you're newer to the trade but sharp and reliable, apply anyway — say so and we'll be straight with you about where you'd start.
What you get
- Pay rate per hour depending on experience, reviewed properly rather than on request
- A rota published in advance from a real system, not a photo of a page on a Sunday night
- Training on the coffee and cocktail programmes, and a route toward senior and keyholder responsibility for people who want it
- A room worth working in. Live music, comedy, and a team that likes each other.
Hours
Part-time and flexible, roughly 25-30 hours a week depending on the shape that suits.
