Simphone is a travel eSIM company built to solve what every other eSIM brand ignores: real phone calls.
Simphone sits within a small group of Irish-founded travel and hospitality businesses. This gives us a rare advantage: existing customer channels and warm introductions from day one.
We’ve launched the product and are now focused on scaling repeatable revenue. This is an exciting time to join a founder-led team and build the commercial engine that will drive Simphone’s growth.
The Role
We’re hiring a Business Development Manager to take Simphone from a strong product to a business with real, repeatable revenue. This is a founder-adjacent, high-ownership role. You will own the sales strategy and execute it yourself in the early stages — building the channel partnerships and direct sales motion that get Simphone eSIMs into travellers’ hands.
You’ll work across three types of channels: (1) partnership/bundling deals with travel and hospitality businesses, (2) B2B and affiliate channels reaching travel intermediaries, and (3) direct-to-consumer acquisition. You will be judged on pipeline built and revenue generated, not activity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Partner & Channel Sales
- Lead the bundling rollout — design and close the commercial terms for bundling Simphone Voice as a default add-on.
- Build partnerships — tour operators, travel agents, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and inbound agencies serving the US/Ireland and US/Europe travel corridors.
- Identify and pitch new bundling partners — hotels, B&Bs, car rental companies, airport pickup services, and diaspora-facing organisations who reach travellers before or on arrival.
2. B2B & Affiliate Development
- Recruit and manage affiliate/referral partners — travel bloggers, YouTubers, diaspora media (e.g. Irish-American outlets), and travel affiliate networks.
- Develop B2B accounts — corporate travel, relocation services, study-abroad programmes, and group travel organisers who need reliable connectivity.
- Set up scalable partner infrastructure — tracking links, commission structures, and reporting dashboards so partners can be onboarded efficiently.
3. Direct Sales & Growth
- Drive direct-to-consumer acquisition — own top-of-funnel growth for direct eSIM sales through the website, collaborating with the founder on positioning and offer structure across the Lite, Voice, and Ireland Pass tiers.
- Run channel experiments — identify and test new customer acquisition channels (paid, organic, partnerships, community) and double down on what works.
4. Commercial & Pricing Input
- Inform pricing strategy — feed field intelligence on pricing sensitivity, competitor offers, and partner margin expectations back into product and pricing decisions.
- Manage commercial terms — negotiate partner revenue share and wholesale agreements that protect Simphone’s unit economics.
What Success Looks Like
- Signed, live bundling agreements generating a measurable attach rate within the first quarter.
- A pipeline of active partners or affiliate channels within 6 months.
- Clear, repeatable playbooks for partner onboarding and direct acquisition that reduce reliance on the founder.
- Revenue growth that is channel-diversified, not reliant on a single source.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven B2B/partnership sales experience — you’ve sold into travel, hospitality, telecom, or a related B2B2C environment and understand partnership economics (revenue share, wholesale, affiliate).
- A self-starter — comfortable being the primary (or o
- nly) salesperson in the early days; you build pipeline, make calls, and close deals yourself.
Compensation
Base salary (depending on experience) plus uncapped commission tied to closed partnership revenue and direct sales performance. We’re flexible on structure (full-time, contract, or contract-to-hire) and open to discussing what motivates the right person to take full ownership.
How to Apply
Send a short note (maximum half a page) on the most relevant partnership or channel deal you’ve built and closed from scratch, along with your CV, to [email protected]
We’re far more interested in one strong, real example than a long list of past responsibilities.
- Strong commercial instincts — confident negotiating terms and structuring win-win deals.
- Comfort with a technical product — you can quickly learn and credibly explain eSIM installation, VoLTE calling, and travel connectivity to non-technical partners.
- Ireland market knowledge — based in Ireland or able to work Irish hours; understanding of the Irish tourism and diaspora travel market is a strong plus.
- Startup experience preferred — you’ve thrived in early-stage or founder-led environments where the sales function is being built from scratch.
