Production Operative – Ballyhack Smokehouse
Ballyhack Smokehouse is a family-run artisan smokehouse based in Arthurstown, Co. Wexford. We specialise in producing premium smoked salmon and seafood products, supplying retailers, restaurants, hotels and customers throughout Ireland.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and hardworking Production Operative to join our small and friendly team.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced food production environment where quality, efficiency and attention to detail are essential. The position would particularly suit someone with previous experience in the seafood or food production industry who is physically fit and comfortable working in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for daily production, including skinning, slicing and producing pre-weighed packs of smoked salmon.
- Preparing and packing customer orders accurately and ensuring they are ready for collection or delivery on time.
- Ensuring orders contain the correct quantities and that all traceability records and documentation are completed correctly.
- Dealing with customers when preparing and dispatching orders.
- Keeping all work areas clean, tidy and organised, while maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Ensuring all products are correctly labelled and packaged.
- Monitoring packaging stock levels and ensuring adequate supplies are available for production.
- Working closely with the rest of the team to ensure production and customer orders are completed efficiently and on time.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- HACCP training, or be willing to work towards HACCP certification.
- Previous experience in the seafood or food production industry, although this is preferred rather than essential.
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves salmon skinning and lifting boxes into chill storage and delivery vehicles.
- Good communication skills and fluency in English.
- A clean, tidy and organised approach to work.
- Good attention to detail, particularly when packing and preparing orders.
- A full clean driving licence.
