We are looking for a Cloud Software Engineer to join our technology team and contribute to the development, integration, deployment and maintenance of cloud-based software solutions.
About the Role
As a Cloud Software Engineer, you will work across software development, cloud computing, application integration, APIs, automation and continuous delivery.
You will contribute to the design and development of scalable software applications and cloud-based services, while supporting automated deployment, application reliability, testing and continuous improvement.
The role is hands-on and will involve working with software applications, cloud platforms, APIs, databases, CI/CD pipelines and automated engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain software applications and cloud-based services.
- Develop software components using Java, Python or other appropriate programming languages.
- Develop, integrate and maintain RESTful APIs and web services.
- Work with application frameworks and microservices-based architectures.
- Support the development and deployment of applications in cloud environments.
- Work with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or equivalent cloud technologies.
- Configure and maintain cloud-based application environments.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing and deployment.
- Automate software development, testing and deployment processes.
- Develop and maintain automated testing solutions to support software quality and continuous delivery.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows.
- Work with relational databases and SQL.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve software application and deployment issues.
- Monitor application performance, availability and reliability.
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance and operational efficiency.
- Use version control systems such as Git for software development and collaboration.
- Participate in code reviews and apply software development best practices.
- Support application security, code-quality and vulnerability management practices.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, product stakeholders and other technical team members.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
- Analyse technical requirements and contribute to the design of appropriate software solutions.
- Continuously improve software development, automation, testing and deployment processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Cloud Computing, Cloud Technology or a related discipline is desirable.
- Professional experience in software engineering, software development, automation engineering or a closely related ICT discipline.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and the software development lifecycle.
- Programming experience with Java, Python or another modern programming language.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and web services.
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts and cloud-based application environments.
- Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and automated software delivery.
- Experience with Git or other version-control systems.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
