Barista Assistant supports cafe operations by preparing coffee, taking orders via POS systems, cleaning equipment, and delivering customer service. Key responsibilities include maintaining hygiene (HACCP), restocking supplies, assisting lead baristas, and ensuring a welcoming, efficient environment.
- Coffee Preparation:Prepare and serve a variety of hot/cold beverages to high standards, including espresso-based drinks.
- Customer Service:Greet customers, take orders, and provide, polite, efficient, and friendly service.
- Operations Support:Assist the lead barista with daily duties, managing stock levels, and ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Hygiene & Safety:Maintain a clean and organized work station, complying with HACCP and health and safety policies.
- Cash Handling:Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system to process transactions accurately.
- Station Maintenance:Keep front-of-house, tables, and equipment clean and tidy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:Previous experience in a busy cafe or customer-facing role is often required.
- Knowledge:Knowledge of, or passion for, coffee brewing methods and techniques.
- Communication:Strong interpersonal skills to engage with customers and work as a team.
- Stamina & Organization:Ability to stand for long periods and work efficiently in a high-speed environment.
- Training:Willingness to learn; food safety certifications are often beneficial.
