About the Role
We are seeking an experienced construction professional to join our growing team. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Registered Building Surveyors and/or professionals with substantial Assigned Certifier experience under BCAR.
This role will support a range of residential, commercial and energy retrofit projects, involving building surveys, statutory compliance inspections, certification, technical reporting and project support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with Building Regulations and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake building surveys, inspections and condition assessments.
- Carry out compliance inspections during construction and refurbishment projects.
- Prepare technical reports, schedules of work, specifications and compliance documentation.
- Support Building Control compliance and BCAR requirements on applicable projects.
- Develop and implement Inspection Plans where required.
- Review construction details, certification records, testing documentation and compliance evidence.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, design teams, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Assist with BCMS submissions and project compliance documentation.
- Identify compliance risks and provide practical technical solutions.
- Support quality assurance processes and internal compliance procedures.
- Contribute technical expertise to retrofit, refurbishment and construction projects.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must satisfy one of the following criteria:
Option 1 – Registered Building Surveyor
- Registration on the Register of Building Surveyors maintained by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) under the Building Control Act 2007.
- Relevant experience in building surveying, construction inspections, compliance assessments or project delivery.
OR
Option 2 – Assigned Certifier Experience
- Demonstrable experience acting as an Assigned Certifier or supporting the Assigned Certifier role on BCAR projects.
- Detailed knowledge of Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR), Irish Building Regulations, Code of Practice for Inspecting and Certifying Buildings and Works, Building Control Management System (BCMS)
Additional Essential Requirements
- Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with defect analysis, dilapidation surveys or technical due diligence assessments.
- Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Chartered status (SCSI, RICS, Engineers Ireland, RIAI or equivalent).
- Experience preparing BCMS documentation and completion certification.
- Experience in residential, commercial or public sector projects.
- Knowledge of retrofit and energy upgrade projects.
- Familiarity with SEAI grant-funded works.
- Project management experience.
