Job Title: SHIPPING CLERK

Summary of Position
The Ship Clerk is responsible for acting as a representative of the ship owner at a port and is the first point of contact for a vessel scheduled to arrive at a port. The Ship Clerk is responsible for organising, overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the port call, from making berth arrangements and services ahead of the vessel’s arrival to finalising the accounts and other paperwork after the vessel has sailed. The Ship Agent liaises with the relevant port authorities to ensure they are kept up to date of the ship's movements.
The Ship Agent will also assist with the management and operation of other commercial activities in the port, such as tug and workboat hire, car and passenger ferries, as well as arranging personnel/crew.
Responsibilities / Principal Duties
Coordinate pilot, tug, and linesman, and make berthing arrangements for vessels
Coordinate with the receivers of cargo to ensure they are ready to accept the ship/cargo
Coordinate Customs and port paperwork for the entrance/clearance of vessels
Board vessels at the marine facilities in the port and the surrounding area
Coordinate any necessary repairs with local services
Keep ship owners informed of the vessel's position local schedule
Arrange personnel/crew for tug and work boats when required
Arrange crew for car ferries and passenger ferries when required
Any other duties the management may, from time to time, deem necessary and reasonably require
Working Hours
The working hours of this position are 09:00hrs to 17:30hrs, Monday to Friday
Essential Requirements:
Leaving Certificate or equivalent education standard required
Fluency in English, both spoken and written
Good level of computer literacy/skills
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Customer service-oriented
Full, clean Category B driving licence or an equivalent driving license from another country which is valid in Ireland
