About the Role
SuperValu Naas is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Butcher’s Assistant to join our Meat Department.
The successful candidate will support the butcher and meat department team in preparing, presenting and maintaining a high-quality range of fresh meat products while providing excellent customer service.
Previous experience or knowledge of meat cuts is an advantage, but full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the butcher and Meat Department team with the day-to-day operation of the department.
- Assist with the preparation, cutting, packing and presentation of fresh meat products.
- Develop knowledge of different cuts of beef, lamb, pork and poultry.
- Maintain excellent standards of product quality, freshness and presentation.
- Replenish and merchandise products to a high standard.
- Ensure correct stock rotation and minimise waste.
- Follow all company procedures relating to food safety, HACCP, hygiene and health & safety.
- Keep work areas, equipment and the Meat Department clean and organised.
- Assist with customer orders and provide friendly, helpful customer service.
- Work efficiently as part of a busy team and assist with other duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a butcher shop, supermarket meat department or food retail is an advantage.
- Knowledge of meat cuts is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
- A genuine interest in food and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, hardworking and punctual.
- Able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Ability to follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Physically able to carry out the duties required in a busy meat department.

Pay: €14.15-€16.00 per hour
