DPD Ireland leads the field in next day parcel delivery throughout Ireland, with 38 regionally based collection and delivery depots and a state of the art central sorting hub in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Purpose of the role:
The Compliance Associate will support the Compliance Manager and Data Protection Officer in embedding a culture of integrity, regulatory adherence, and data protection by design. The role ensures that day-to-day compliance activities—including policy checks, internal control reviews, and data protection tasks such as handling Subject Access Requests, maintaining Records of Processing, and assisting with Data Protection Impact Assessments are executed efficiently.
In addition, the role actively contributes to the assurance framework by performing compliance tests to verify adherence to internal control policies. Through these support activities, the Compliance Associate helps provide reasonable assurance that the organisation’s compliance and data protection posture is not only designed appropriately but is also operating effectively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Triage and logging Subject Access Requests (SARs)
- Managing policy formatting and review date tracking
- Acting as first-point triage for the GDPR inbox
- Assisting with data mapping (ROPA, DPIA) updates through quarterly department check-ins
- Monitoring regulatory updates and summarizing applicable changes for review
- Administrative tracking (logs, planners, evidence collation)
- Conducting walkthroughs and performing compliance tests
- Supporting compliance and audit reviews (internal)

Experience Required:
- Minimum 1–2 years of general working experience (internships, placements, or graduate roles accepted).
Experience Preferred:
- Previous experience in a compliance, data protection, legal, or risk-related role is an advantage, butnot essential
- Data protection and internal control support is a plus, ongoing training will be provided.
- Genuine interest in compliance, data protection, and regulatory risk
Qualifications Required:
First Degree in law, Business, Finance, or other related field.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Working towards or willing to work towards a compliance or data protection qualification (e.g., ICA, CIPP/E, CCO®, Certified GDPR (PECB), or equivalent)
Skills Required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Google Workspace)
- Organisational and time management skills
Skills Preferred:
- GDPR and Data Protection Awareness – familiarity with key principles, SARs timelines and ability to triage and escalate appropriately
- Compliance Testing Support – ability to follow pre-designed checklist and record findings for manager review
- Meeting Facilitation – comfortable scheduling meetings and chasing outstanding actions.
- Discretion & Confidentiality – Understands the sensitive nature of compliance and data protection
- Time Management – capable of managing concurrent tasks and prioritising work.
