We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join the growing team at RAYN Safety & Security in a full-time office-based role. This is an exciting opportunity for somebody with strong technical and commercial experience within the fire and security industry who is looking to play a key role in the continued growth and development of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, pricing, and turnaround of quotations, proposals, and tender submissions across a broad range of disciplines within the fire and security sector. The primary objective of the role is to ensure that quotations and tenders are delivered accurately, professionally, competitively, and within tight timeframes.
The role requires somebody with a strong understanding of the fire and security industry, including practical knowledge of system design, installation methods, compliance requirements, labour requirements, and commercial costing.
Experience across a broad spectrum of systems and services would be highly desirable, including:
- Fire detection systems
- Fire suppression systems
- Mechanical fire protection systems, including hydrants, hose reels, and dry risers
- CCTV systems
- Intruder alarm systems
- Access control systems
- Gate and barrier automation
The estimator will be responsible for:
- Preparing detailed quotations and technical proposals
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Maintaining accurate pricing structures and profit margins
- Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure up-to-date pricing and product knowledge
- Identifying labour requirements and estimating realistic project timeframes
- Monitoring e-Tenders and other procurement platforms for suitable opportunities
- Identifying tenders that align with the strategic growth plans of the company
- Developing and maintaining relationships with electrical contractors, property managers, facility managers, consultants, and other industry partners
- Proactively seeking opportunities to quote for projects and maintenance contracts
- Managing and pricing internal defect reports and upgrade recommendations identified by field technicians
- Working closely with the operations and technical teams to ensure quotations are practical, compliant, and commercially viable
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous estimating experience within the fire and security industry
- Strong technical understanding of fire and security systems
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
- The ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience with tendering processes and procurement documentation
- Good IT and administrative skills
- A proactive and professional approach to customer and contractor relationships
This is a full-time office-based position, Monday to Friday, and offers the opportunity to become part of an ambitious and expanding company with projects and clients nationwide.
