Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounts Person to join our busy Full Day Care Centre. This vital part-time role requires managing the day-to-day financial operations of the childcare facility. You will ensure smooth cash flow, precise payroll processing, and compliant administration of state funding. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Irish childcare funding schemes and advanced proficiency in the Big Red Book accounts package.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Bookkeeping
- Process weekly payroll for all childcare and administrative staff.
- Maintain accurate financial records using the Big Red Book software.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements and manage accounts payable/receivable.
- Ensure full compliance with Revenue guidelines (PAYE/PRSI returns).
Funding & Fee Management
- Manage and reconcile weekly parental fees via direct debit, cash, or card.
- Oversee income from the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) on the Hive platform.
- Administer funding for the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme.
- Track and allocate Core Funding allocations accurately.
- Identify, track, and resolve any underpayments or fee arrears immediately.
Year-End & Reporting
- Prepare accounts for year-end review by the external accountant.
- Liaise directly with the external accountant to resolve financial queries.
- Generate monthly profit and loss reports for the management team.
Requirements & QualificationsEssential Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a busy bookkeeping or accounts role.
- Full working knowledge of the Big Red Book Accounts Package.
- Direct experience handling NCS, ECCE, and Core Funding schemes.
- Proven track record managing high-volume weekly payroll.
Key Skills
- Exceptional numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong digital proficiency, specifically with Excel and the Pobal Hive portal.
- Excellent communication skills for dealing with parents and accountants.
- Ability to work independently and manage a tight 10-hour weekly schedule.
Pay: €15.50-€17.50 per hour
