Hadfield Green are partnering on a fantastic opportunity for a Senior IT Security & Network Engineer / Architect to join a critical cyber security and network services environment on a 12-month contract.
This is a senior technical role for someone who can bridge Cyber Security, Network Operations, and Architecture, leading security-driven network initiatives from design through to delivery.
You’ll act as a key technical lead across complex network and security projects, helping shape resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure that supports business continuity and operational excellence.
Lead cyber security projects delivering network-related security initiatives across a critical 24×7 operations network.
Design and implement best-practice network architectures focused on scalability, resilience, and security.
Take ownership of enterprise datacentre network design, including ACI fabric, tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, and EPGs.
Configure and manage Cisco NGFW features including IPS, Security Intelligence, Portscan Detection, and Encrypted Visibility Engine.
Manage firewall lifecycle activity including upgrades, policy optimisation, and health monitoring.
Develop secure segmentation strategies aligned to Zero Trust principles.
Use automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and REST APIs.
Design and optimise application delivery using Citrix NetScaler, including load balancing, WAF, content switching, and traffic steering.
Support high-availability and disaster-recovery planning for critical services.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure performance, resilience, and secure traffic flows.
Provide third-line technical support and mentor second-line staff.
Monitor performance and support continuous improvement across key network services.
CCIE qualification essential
CISSP qualification advantageous
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and topologies
Experience in security architecture design and implementation
Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, Cisco firewalls, ACI networks, LAN, WAN, and VPN systems
Familiarity with Identity & Access Management (I&AM) and cyber security
Knowledge of threat management and vulnerability assessment
Good working knowledge of ITIL, change management, and continual improvement
Strong communication and documentation skills
