Ed Horan Architects is a growing, design-led architectural practice based in Mountmellick, Co. Laois, working across residential, commercial and planning projects throughout the Midlands and surrounding counties.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Graduate to join our small, collaborative studio. The role offers involvement across all project stages, from early design and planning through technical development and construction, working closely with the Practice Director, clients, consultants and contractors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Architectural design and development
- Preparation of planning applications and submissions
- Measured surveys and documentation of existing buildings
- Technical detailing and preparation of construction drawing packages
- Coordination with clients, consultants and contractors
- Site visits and construction-stage involvement
- Preparation of presentation material and project documentation

As part of a small and growing studio, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become closely involved in live projects, take on meaningful responsibility and develop their professional experience across a broad range of project types and stages.
This is a studio-based position in Mountmellick, Co. Laois and is not a remote role. Site visits and client meetings will also form part of the position.
- Recognised professional qualification in Architecture
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years' post-graduate professional experience, although applications from strong candidates with less experience are also welcome
- Strong design ability with a good understanding of construction and technical detailing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD essential
- Experience in ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Lumion advantageous
- Good working knowledge of Irish Planning, Building Regulations and Building Control requirements
- Strong graphic, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and take responsibility for assigned work
- Collaborative and proactive approach to working with clients, consultants and contractors
- Experience in residential design, planning applications and construction-stage delivery would be advantageous
- Applicants must be currently eligible to work in Ireland
- Ability to work on a studio-based basis from our Mountmellick office
- Full clean driver's licence preferred due to site visits and the location of projects, but not essential
