Job Summary:
Reporting to the Project Manager for the Mayo / Roscommon region, this is a key site-based role supporting civils, grounds works and reinstatement activities across public lighting and utility projects.
The role involves carrying out a range of grounds and civils duties, including site preparation, excavation, ducting, cable trench works, reinstatement of surfaces, material handling, traffic management support, and maintaining safe, clean and compliant work areas.
Responsibilities:
Attend various civils, grounds works, public lighting and reinstatement projects as required.
Support civils crews and electricians with site preparation, excavation, duct laying, cable trenching, column foundation works and associated reinstatement activities, ensuring health and safety requirements are followed at all times.
Deliver assigned works in line with agreed project timelines, quality standards and business targets.
Communicating and working effectively with work crews to deliver job requirements ensuring that the project is delivered in accordance with agreed specifications, standards, health, & safety plans, and method statements.
Identifying work improvement opportunities and solutions, reporting same to Project Manager.
Operating vehicles and machinery in line with Health and Safety requirements.
Conducting regular checks on machinery and equipment, clean tools, and carry out basic maintenance tasks when necessary
Excavating trenches, laying ducts and assisting with the installation of public lighting cables.
Preparing bases and assisting with the standing, replacement and alignment of public lighting columns using appropriate plant and equipment.
Carrying out reinstatement works following excavation, including backfilling, compacting, kerbing, concrete, tarmac, paving and general surface repairs.
Installing and reinstating around public lighting pillars, chambers, duct routes, earth rods and associated civils infrastructure.
Maintaining tidy, safe and well-organised work areas, including segregation of materials, waste removal and protection of public pathways or roadways.
Assisting with signage, barriers, pedestrian management and safe systems of work when operating on public roads, footpaths and live worksites.
Assist with loading, unloading, storage and movement of civils materials, tools, plant and equipment.

Person Specification
Experience:
Previous experience working as a Grounds Worker, Civils Operative, General Operative or similar role, ideally within utilities, public lighting, roadworks or construction.
Previous experience carrying out excavation, ducting, reinstatement, kerbing, concreting, tarmacadam or paving works would be an advantage.
Previous experience working on public roads, around live services and within traffic management systems would be beneficial.
Certifications:
Valid safe pass
C1 License (Preferable)
Manual Handling
Signing Lighting and Guarding / SLG Card Holder
MEWP Ticket (Desirable)
Required Skills & Competencies:
