The Workshop Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing day-to-day operations within the service workshop. This individual ensures that repair and maintenance work is carried out efficiently, accurately, and according to the highest quality standards. As a Master Technician Certified professional, the Foreman provides hands-on technical guidance, supports team development, and acts as the key link between technicians and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise a team of automotive technicians and apprentices.
- Allocate workloads, set daily priorities, and monitor progress to ensure efficient workflow.
- Conduct quality control inspections on completed work to maintain manufacturer and safety standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex vehicle issues, providing technical expertise to support the team.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, industry regulations, and company procedures.
- Mentor and train technicians, encouraging skill growth and continual professional development.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair orders, and reports for management review.
- Communicate with the service advisor team to ensure clear, transparent updates to customers.
- Assist in warranty and parts claim processes when required.
- Recommend process improvements to boost shop productivity and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Master Technician Certification required.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience, including diagnostic and technical work.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop, dealership, or service centre setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools, repair software, and shop management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
