Medical Receptionist / Practice Administrator
Full-time or Part-time | Permanent / Fixed-term
We are looking for a friendly, organised and dependable Medical Receptionist / Practice Administrator to join our busy and supportive general practice team.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable managing a busy workload and takes pride in providing a helpful and professional service. You will be an important part of the day-to-day running of the practice and often the first person our patients meet or speak to.
Previous experience in a medical practice is an advantage, but we are also interested in candidates with strong administration, reception or customer-service experience who are willing to learn.
The RoleReception & Patient Support
- Provide a warm, professional and helpful first point of contact for patients and visitors.
- Answer telephone and in-person queries efficiently and sensitively.
- Manage appointments and assist patients with general practice queries.
- Communicate with hospitals, pharmacies, healthcare professionals and other organisations where required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and discretion at all times.
- Help ensure reception and waiting areas remain welcoming, organised and professional.
Administration
- Complete day-to-day administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate patient information using the practice management system.
- Assist with correspondence, documentation, recalls and reminder systems.
- Support the clinical and administrative team with the smooth running of the practice.
- Assist with supplies, paperwork and general office organisation.
Billing & Payments
- Process patient charges and payments accurately.
- Record and reconcile payments appropriately.
- Assist with patient billing and ensure accounts are kept up to date.
- Collect and manage STCs and other relevant practice documentation.
- Follow practice claiming and billing procedures.

Skills & Experience
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous reception, administration or customer-service experience.
- Good general IT skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Confidence using telephone and computer systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a GP practice, healthcare environment or practice management system is an advantage, but not essential.

Pay: €14.50-€20.00 per hour
