Policies:

Establishes and maintains all relevant baseline policies for the Occupational Health Department

Establishes communication protocols with the Occupational Physician, client’s Management and all other relevant client personnel.

Assists client in the preparation of policies where Occupational Health may play a role, for example drugs and alcohol in the workplace, workplace bullying and stress at work.

Supports for maintenance of the Management System on site including their own operational control documents.

Co-ordinates and manages the absence management programme, including the provision of medical case management

Co-ordinates and manages the return-to-work programme and rehabilitation for absent colleagues
-
Provides advice and support for the site Industrial Hygiene programmer

Manages the onsite ergonomics and manual handling program

Provides appropriate vaccination for employees

Provides training for:

Manual handling

Work station set up

Blood borne pathogen awareness

Managing shift work, health and wellbeing

Manages the First Aid Programme

Attendance to, and management of, Occupational injuries and illness

Liaising with, or referral to, the OHP regarding client employees and relevant stakeholder where relevant

Provides assistance to the client in all incident investigation and statutory reporting to government and insurance bodies and professions.

Establishes and maintains the Health Promotion and Employee Wellbeing Programme.

Responsibility for keeping up to date on all relevant legislative and statutory changes as it pertains to the health and safety of client’s employees.

Liaises with the EHS team in all relevant activities and participates in relevant ERT team training and response to emergencies

Conducts Pre Employment Health Screening

Conducts appropriate health surveillance examinations, interprets results and provides regular trending analysis to management.

Maintains medical information and records in a confidential manner.

Performs pregnancy risk assessments

Manages and co-ordinates the Blood Volunteer Programme

Supervises the duties of the on-site Medical Technician
-
Registered General Nurse with a valid NMBI registration
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in occupational health nursing.

A recognised qualification in Occupational Health is desireable
-
Competency in at least some of Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision screening, phlebotomy, VDU ergonomics & administration of vaccines.

Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal, empathy and listening skills.
-
Strong organisational and planning skills including time management with proven track record of prioritising key tasks and delivery to a high professional standard.

Strong team member with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working people relationships.
