About the Role
Apex Fire Ltd is a leading provider of fire protection products and services, committed to delivering high-quality solutions and exceptional customer service. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Credit Controller to join our Finance team at our Cavan office.
The Role
As Credit Controller, you will play a key role in managing the company's accounts receivable function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, maintaining accurate customer accounts, and supporting the overall financial performance of the business. You will work closely with customers and internal departments to resolve account queries while building strong professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure prompt payment of outstanding invoices.
- Monitor aged debtors and proactively follow up on overdue accounts by telephone and email.
- Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts.
- Investigate and resolve invoice disputes and payment queries in a timely manner.
- Negotiate payment arrangements where appropriate while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Prepare customer statements, aged debtor reports, and other credit control documentation.
- Escalate overdue accounts in accordance with company procedures.
- Work closely with the Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to resolve account issues.
- Assist with month-end reporting and accounts receivable reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate customer records within the accounting system.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance department.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Finance role.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using accounting or ERP systems.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Accounting Technician qualification or similar.
- Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or construction-related business.
- Familiarity with Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar accounting software.
