We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Galway. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of innovative mechanical systems and components, supporting products from concept through to manufacture. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor).
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design reviews to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, project management, and supplier teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product quality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years' experience in mechanical design or product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and engineering drawing standards.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Experience with prototype development and product testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable
- Experience in medical devices, automation, industrial equipment, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools.
- Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Project management or new product introduction (NPI) experience.
