Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to help build and evolve one of Europe’s leading healthcare platforms. You’ll solve complex integration challenges, improve mission-critical patient journeys and build software used daily by healthcare professionals and patients across multiple countries.
This role sits at the intersection of product delivery, systems integration and operational reliability.
What you’ll be responsible for
Healthcare integrations
- Build and maintain integrations between our platform and external healthcare systems using APIs and interoperability standards.
- Design reliable solutions for exchanging appointments, referrals and clinical data.
- Diagnose and resolve production integration issues while improving observability and reliability.
- Help evolve our integration architecture as new partners and healthcare systems are introduced.
Booking and appointment platform
- Deliver features across the booking lifecycle including scheduling, waitlists, referrals and reporting.
- Translate clinical and operational change requests into well scoped and reliable implementations.
- Build tools that support healthcare professionals and operational teams.
- Continuously improve reliability, usability and performance.
Engineering quality and reliability
- Own production issues from investigation through to permanent resolution.
- Build secure, maintainable software that protects sensitive patient information.
- Help keep the platform modern through framework upgrades and technical improvements.
- Raise engineering standards through mentoring, code reviews and collaborative design.
Must have
- At least five years commercial Ruby on Rails experience.
- Strong experience building and operating production Ruby on Rails applications.
- Experience integrating with third party systems and APIs in production environments.
- Experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR.
- Excellent debugging and production troubleshooting skills.
- A strong focus on correctness, reliability and data integrity.
- Ability to work directly with stakeholders and turn requirements into reliable software.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to take technical responsibility for a critical area of the platform.
Candidate must be based in the EEA (European Economic Area)
Nice to have
- Experience working in healthcare, insurance or another regulated industry.
- Experience with booking, scheduling or workflow-driven platforms.
- Experience integrating with clinical systems, radiology platforms or insurer systems.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR.
- Experience improving application observability, monitoring and production reliability.
