The Opportunity
Brace Community Response CLG is seeking a Director to lead this highly respected community response to drug and alcohol use. As a service that is innovative, responsive, professional and accessible, the Director role provides overall leadership, strategic vision, stakeholder engagement and fosters a values driven environment embedded within the community.
The successful candidate will help shape the future of BRACE, and work with a committed team and Board to expand its reach and impact. Ideal candidates will bring senior leadership experience, strong organisational and financial understanding, excellent relationship-building skills, deep sensitivity to the needs of communities, clear and informed understanding of substance use and treatment and a genuine desire to be part of an Organisation that seeks to make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities affected by addiction.
About the Organisation
BRACE Community Response CLG works with individuals, families, and the community, at any stage of their journey of concern about drug or alcohol use. Founded in 1981 after three young people died of drug-related causes, our services respond to a continuum of needs ranging from low threshold harm reduction positions to post substance use/abstinence-based aftercare/continuing care provision and includes responses for concerned others. We also provide a range of training and education opportunities which are directed towards facilitating more effective responses to the challenges of drug and alcohol use. The services of BRACE Community Response are delivered in accordance with acknowledged standards and evidenced best practice, in partnership with a range of other services, both local and national.
We are currently inviting applications for the following position.
Key Accountabilities
The Director of BRACE will be responsible for ensuring that BRACE is a sustainable, high impact and values driven organisation.
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
· Collaborate with the Board on the development of the organisation's vision, mission, and strategy and lead the implementation of that strategy.
· Ensure the effective financial management of BRACE, including funding availability, creating and managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting.
· Recruit, motivate, and manage paid staff and volunteers within BRACE, fostering a values-driven, professional, and supportive workplace culture.
· Oversee day-to-day operations and identify and mitigate any identified risks to the organisation.
· Support the Board in ensuring compliance with all relevant charity regulations, legislation, and best practices (such as the Charities Regulator's Code of Governance in Ireland).
· Maintain and develop the proactive presence of BRACE in the public domain, particularly in the field of substance misuse.
· Cultivate productive relationships with relevant government departments, local authorities, partner organisations, community networks, service providers, and service user representatives.
· Work closely with the Board of Directors of BRACE.
· Pursue data, knowledge and understanding of the nature and extent of drug and alcohol related issues.
· Maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Organisation.
Specific Requirements
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience of senior management roles or equivalent.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience of work within the context of addiction.
· Experience of the Not for Profit, Community or Charity Sector.
· Minimum standard of education at Level 8 Degree in a relevant discipline such as Social, Community, Health, Management, Addiction.
· Excellent Communications Skills
· Ability to work flexibly.
Additional Desirable Requirements
· Understanding of community responses to drug and alcohol use.
· Understanding of the national policy framework within which BRACE operates.
The position is based in the BRACE Premises, Horizons Building, Ballymun.
