As we continue to grow, we are now seeking to strengthen our Constructionteam with a Assistant Electrical Engineer at our Castlebar or Dubin Location.

The Irish Construction Project Management Team comprises a professional and passionate group of engineers and construction management professionals supporting our clients to deliver their renewable energy projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. We operate in a cooperative, supportive and open manner and support all staff in developing to their full potential. Our team provide technical advisory, site supervision and project management services to make sure that projects are planned and constructed in line with necessary requirements.
The successful applicant will: assist in providing electrical engineering services on a consultancy basis supporting client requirements to achieve the objectives of individual renewables projects; support the Senior Electrical Engineer in managing electrical technical interfaces; and grow, develop and consolidate Natural Power’s pre-construction and construction phase service provision.
Projects include onshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydro, renewable heat and a variety of other associated evolving technologies.
While specific experience working in the renewables sector is not a pre-requisite it is a very desirable attribute for applicants to the role. Similarly experience of transmission connections, is of particular benefit.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to the development, design, construction and commissioning phases of renewable energy projects while benefiting from a structured development pathway towards Electrical Engineer and Chartered Engineer status.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The main purpose of the role is to assist the electrical engineering and projects team providing successful pre-construction and construction phase consultancy services by supporting electrical engineers and project managers to deliver client and contract requirements. Typical (non-exhaustive) tasks and responsibilities include:

Provide electrical engineering advice and grid consultancy services to clients regarding costs, timelines and technical aspects of grid connections and renewable generation technology

Preparation and submission of grid connection applications and modifications for renewable projects

Ensure technical aspects and electrical infrastructure associated with wind farms, solar PV plants and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects are designed, installed and commissioned in accordance with employer’s requirements and contractor’s specifications

Ensure contestable grid connection infrastructure is designed, installed and commissioned in accordance with system operator functional specifications.

Assist in the coordination of design reviews with DSO’s, TSO’s and other grid authorities.

Provide technical support to Project Manager / Owner’s Engineer to assist with project delivery.

Assist with the preparation of technical specifications and employer’s requirements for solar, BESS, turbine supply, electrical balance of plant and contestable grid connection work packages.

Review technical aspects of electrical infrastructure via documentation and on site to ensure that risks to operation, compliance and operational lifetime are identified and mitigated.

Attend site meetings and undertake site visits to inspect electrical works and prepare snagging lists.

Support grid code compliance testing processes.

Work with the Natural Power Advisory team to provide technical due diligence advisory services to renewable energy developers, asset owners and investors.

Keep abreast of grid connection and renewable energy policy and technology developments.

Assist with the management of designers and specialist subconsultants where required.
This is a PERMANENT, FULL-TIME role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Hybrid - 3 days onsite or in the office and 2 days WFH.
