Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and hardworking Cleaning & Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team. The successful candidate will help ensure that our school premises remain clean, safe, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining a high-quality learning environment for children.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning Duties
- Daily cleaning of classrooms, corridors, offices, toilets and communal areas.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and disinfecting surfaces.
- Emptying bins and ensuring proper waste disposal and recycling.
- Restocking hygiene and cleaning supplies.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school.
Maintenance Duties
- Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
- Reporting maintenance issues, damage or safety concerns.
- Assisting with furniture movement and room set-up for school events and activities.
- Monitoring the condition of facilities and equipment.
- Helping maintain outdoor areas, playgrounds and access routes.
Health & Safety
- Following all health and safety procedures and school policies.
- Ensuring a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Supporting emergency and security procedures when required.
- Using cleaning products and equipment safely and responsibly.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Previous experience in cleaning, caretaking, facilities or maintenance.
- Good practical and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Good level of spoken English
- Ability to perform physical duties associated with cleaning and maintenance work.
Desirable
- Experience working in a school or childcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance.
- Manual handling or health and safety training.
- Basic French language skills.
