URBAN BREWING - The CHQ Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1
Bartender
Full-time · Dublin 1 · €15.00–€16 per hour + tips
About the role
We run two bars and a working microbrewery in the CHQ Building on Dublin's Docklands, alongside Stack A Restaurant in the vaults - pouring beer brewed a few metres from the bar, almost 400 wines, cocktails and everything in between, from walk-in service to events for up to 350 guests.
This is a role for a bartender who can already build cocktails properly - that part's essential - and wants to get genuinely good at the rest: beer straight from the tank, wine, and reading a busy bar. We can teach everything, but you need to know classic cocktails already.
About the hours: evenings and weekends are part of bar life, with a mix of day and evening shifts. In return: your rota out every Saturday for the week ahead, a team that doesn't leave you uncovered - and Christmas at home: we close every year on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day and New Year's Day (we're open New Year's Eve).
What you'll do
Behind the bar
- Set up your station before every service - garnishes, syrups, glassware, ice, stock
- Prepare cocktails, pour beers and serve wines to our service standards, plus proper coffee and food
- Keep the bar clean, stocked and organised throughout service
Guests
- Take food and drink orders at the bar and ring them accurately through the POS
- Build rapport, recommend, and upsell by knowing the menu - daily specials, offers, and what's brewing
- Check ID where needed and serve responsibly, knowing when to stop
- Process payments accurately and close / transfer tables promptly
Stock & standards
- Monitor and restock bar inventory; order fruit and supplies in good time.
- Check deliveries against orders before signing dockets
- Keep to health and safety, manual handling and hygiene standards at all times
Team
- Communicate clearly across the bar, floor and kitchen - messages passed on, feedback shared each shift
- Help on the floor when needed, and attend trainings and staff meetings
- Set the room right - music and lighting appropriate to the shift
About you
- Cocktail-capable - solid cocktail-making experience is essential; wine and beer knowledge we'll build with you
- Experienced - at least 1 year behind a high quality, busy bar
- Guest-focused - warm, positive, and genuinely good with people
- Quick - strong multitasking in a fast-paced environment; comfortable with a till and ordering system
- A clear communicator - fluent English, confident across a busy bar
- Fit for it - the job involves lifting and being on your feet
- Flexible - available for evening and weekend shifts
What we offer
- €15.00–€16 per hour, plus a real share of our tip pool - paid weekly through your payslip. Most bar staff start at a level currently worth around €3.50/hour on top, and reach roughly €5/hour within a few months - realistic overall earnings around €20/hour. Tips aren't contractual, are on top of your agreed wages, and levels move with trade, but the system is fully transparent and we'll explain exactly how it works before you start
- Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day and New Year's Day - every year
- Training most bars can't offer - structured wine, cocktail, beer and service training, tastings, supplier sessions, and a microbrewery to learn from on-site
- All required certifications provided and paid for - HACCP, fire safety and other relevant trainings
- Staff meals twice a day depending on your shift, and a drink for closing staff
- 25% staff discount and staff parties
- Genuine progression - our AGM started with us as a barback, our GM as a waitress; we'd rather promote you than advertise
- A landmark city-centre location beside Connolly Station, the Luas and multiple bus routes
