Job Overview
Hartley People Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Technician on behalf of a long-established manufacturing company based in Wexford.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly automated production facility where you'll play a key role in maintaining production equipment, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Working as part of an established maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring production machinery operates safely, efficiently and reliably within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Perform planned maintenance activities in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot and repair motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, drive systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Support fault finding on automated production equipment, sensors, control systems and variable speed drives.
- Assist with machinery installations, commissioning and equipment upgrades.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
- Work closely with production personnel to prioritise maintenance activities and minimise disruption.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders and associated documentation accurately.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing machine uptime and reducing recurring faults.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised maintenance workshop and work area.
Requirements
- Qualified Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, Electrician or similar trade qualification.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills with good electrical awareness.
- Experience working on production machinery, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings and pneumatic systems.
- Exposure to automated manufacturing equipment, PLC-controlled machinery or industrial control systems would be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals and technical documentation.
- Welding and fabrication experience would be beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
