Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance and profitability of the Deeside store. This role ensures excellent customer experiences, strong team performance, effective stock management and delivery of sales targets across all departments including:
- Country Supplies
- Animal Feed
- Garden
- Equine & Pet
- Hardware & Seasonal Products
The successful candidate will lead by example, creating a welcoming retail environment while driving commercial growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the store team.
- Recruit, train and retain high-performing staff.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused culture.
- Manage staff rotas and labour budgets.
- Ensure excellent communication across all departments.
- Credit control management.
- Recruitment of new staff.
- Implement disciplinary procedures as appropriate.
Sales & Commercial Performance
- Deliver agreed sales, margin and profitability targets.
- Monitor departmental performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Help drive website sales and performance.
- Drive seasonal campaigns and promotional activity.
- Work with suppliers to maximise product performance, merchandising and commercial output.
- Analyse sales reports and implement improvement plans.
- Develop local business relationships to increase customer loyalty.
Customer Experience
- Serve customers and give them product advice.
- Participate in social media videos and product explainer videos.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards throughout the store.
- Resolve customer issues professionally and efficiently.
- Build relationships with farming, equine, gardening customers & rural community.
- Promote Deeside as the trusted destination for advice and products.
- Support the Agronomy team in delivering expert customer solutions.
Store Operations
- Ensure smooth day-to-day running of the store.
- Serve customers and give them product advice.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and presentation.
- Manage stock control, ordering and replenishment.
- Monitor stock losses and implement controls.
- Ensure pricing accuracy throughout the store.
- Coordinate deliveries and warehouse operations.
Financial Management
- Manage budgets and operating costs.
- Monitor gross margin performance.
- Authorise purchases within agreed limits.
- Prepare monthly management reports.
- Identify opportunities for increased profitability.
- Attend regular management meetings.
Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
- Conduct regular risk assessments.
- Ensure all training records remain up to date.
- Maintain compliance with chemical, feed and agricultural product regulations.
