We are seeking an experienced Legal Executive – Conveyancing, Mortgage & International Client Services to support our growing residential and commercial property practice.
The successful candidate will work closely with solicitors, clients, lenders, mortgage brokers and other professional stakeholders, supporting the progression of property and mortgage transactions from initial instruction through to completion.
A particular feature of this role is supporting the firm's international client base, including clients who have Nigerian legal, property or financial interests. The successful candidate will therefore require demonstrable knowledge of the Nigerian legal and regulatory environment, together with experience communicating effectively with clients whose transactions involve Nigerian legal, property or financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist solicitors with residential and commercial conveyancing matters and associated transaction administration.
- Support the progression of mortgage and property transactions from initial client instruction through to completion.
- Liaise with clients, lenders, mortgage brokers, solicitors, estate agents and other professional stakeholders.
- Assist with client onboarding and the collection, review and organisation of documentation required for property and mortgage transactions.
- Carry out and support AML, KYC, CDD and enhanced due diligence procedures in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential compliance, fraud, identity or transaction risks and escalate matters appropriately.
- Assist with the review of financial and legal documentation and identify inconsistencies or information requiring further clarification.
- Provide clear and timely updates to clients regarding transaction requirements, documentation and progression.
- Assist with matters involving clients who have Nigerian property, financial or legal interests, including helping to identify issues arising from Nigerian documentation or legal processes and escalating matters requiring solicitor review.
- Support effective communication with clients who may be unfamiliar with the Irish conveyancing and mortgage process.
- Assist the firm in developing and maintaining effective client-service processes for its international and Nigerian-connected client base.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure that client and transaction information is handled securely and confidentially.
- Assist with the firm's case-management, workflow and administrative processes.
- Work collaboratively with solicitors and other members of the conveyancing team to ensure transactions progress efficiently and accurately.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Law, Legal Studies, Business, Finance or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years' relevant professional experience in legal services, conveyancing, mortgage lending, financial services, banking, compliance or a related professional environment.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with mortgage, property, financial or other regulated transactions.
- Practical experience of AML/KYC/CDD procedures, client due diligence and risk assessment.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive client information.
- Ability to manage multiple matters within a high-volume transactional environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and practical understanding of the Nigerian legal and regulatory environment, particularly where relevant to property, financial services, client documentation or transactions involving Nigerian interests.
- Demonstrable experience communicating with and supporting clients with Nigerian legal, property or financial interests.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within an Irish conveyancing, mortgage, banking or financial-services environment.
- Experience liaising with Irish lenders, mortgage brokers, solicitors or other property professionals.
- A Nigerian law degree or professional legal qualification.
- Experience dealing with Nigerian property documentation, legal documentation or regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with international or cross-border clients.
- Experience identifying and resolving fraud, financial crime, AML or transaction-risk issues.
- Experience with case-management, CRM or workflow systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.

The role requires a combination of Irish property and mortgage transaction experience, regulated financial-services/AML knowledge and specialist knowledge of the Nigerian legal and regulatory environment.
This combination is important to the firm's provision of services to an increasingly diverse client base, particularly clients with Nigerian legal, property or financial interests who require assistance understanding and navigating Irish property and conveyancing processes.
