Job Title: Bakery Tablehand (Night Shift 3pm-11pm Mon-Thurs)
Reports to: Bakery Manager
Job Purpose:
As a Bakery Tablehand, you will be responsible for assisting bakers and ensuring that the products are of high quality and meet customer expectations. You will work alongside bakers in mixing dough, shaping dough, baking, and cleaning the work area. You will also monitor the production process and report any issues to the Head Baker or Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the bakers in preparing dough, shaping dough, and baking cakes, and other bakery products
- Monitor the baking process to ensure that the products are baked according to the recipe and customer requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to adhere to health and safety regulations
- Keep inventory of supplies and ingredients in the bakery area
- Report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the Head Baker or Shift Supervisor
- Uphold high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the bakery area
- Follow recipes and formulas for making bakery products
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Baker or Shift Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and follow recipes and formulas
- Good communication skills to interact with customers and communicate with the Head Baker or Shift Supervisor
- Basic math skills to measure ingredients and perform calculations
- Ability to follow safety and hygiene rules to maintain a clean and hygienic environment
- Previous experience in a bakery or similar food service industry preferred.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy bags of flour, sugar, etc.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 25kg
Work Environment:
- The bakery environment can be hot and noisy.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
