These positions are predominantly paid on an hourly basis (you will be paid for every hour you work on site), salary and packages are also available.
Job Description:
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of construction projects. You will be responsible for setting out, surveying, and ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications and drawings.
Key responsibilities include:

Setting out and surveying on-site using Total Station, GPS, and other surveying equipment

Interpreting drawings and technical specifications to ensure precise execution of works

Liaising with site management, subcontractors, and design teams

Monitoring and ensuring quality control of works on-site

Maintaining accurate site records and measurements

Assisting in resolving any engineering or technical issues that arise during construction

Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at all times
Requirements:
-
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
-
Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a similar role (ideally within Irish construction projects)

Strong knowledge of setting out equipment and surveying techniques

Experience working on civil, residential, or commercial projects

Proficiency in AutoCAD and reading construction drawings

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
-
Full clean driving licence (preferred)

For senior‑level engineers, hourly rates can be up to €40.00 an hour, depending on experience and project exposure. This generally corresponds to €55,000 - €80,000+ per year based on a 45-50 hour working week. Both PAYE and self‑employed arrangements can be accommodated.Salaries are commonly offered in the region of €50,000 to €75,000+, with additional benefits such as a vehicle or travel allowance, performance‑related bonuses, and pension contributions available. Your exact package will reflect your experience level and the value you bring to the project team.
