Barjenta Ltd is looking for a hands-on Water Chemistry Technician to support our managed water and wastewater service at our Power Station.
This is a practical site-based role involving water testing, sampling, reporting, chemical checks, stock control and support of steam/water chemistry systems. It would suit someone with a science, chemistry, laboratory, environmental, water treatment or technical background who wants to build a career in industrial water and power plant chemistry.
Full training will be provided. Attitude, reliability and attention to detail are just as important as experience.
The Role
You will carry out routine checks across the water treatment plant, wastewater system, SWAS panel and steam/water cycle. This includes taking samples, completing laboratory tests, logging results, preparing reports and flagging any out-of-spec results or plant issues.
This is not a desk-only or lab-only job. It involves walking the site, carrying samples, handling equipment, working safely around chemicals and supporting day-to-day plant checks.
Key Duties
- Daily water chemistry testing and sampling.
- Testing raw water, RO/demin water, boiler water, feedwater, condensate and wastewater.
- SWAS and steam chemistry checks.
- Weekly reporting of results, observations and actions.
- Reagent, chemical and stock checks.
- Basic dosing equipment checks.
- EPA wastewater sampling support.
- Lab housekeeping and record keeping.
- Escalating out-of-spec results or site issues quickly.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, practical and eager to learn.
- Comfortable working independently on an industrial site.
- Detail-focused and accurate with test results.
- Confident using basic computer systems and spreadsheets.
- Safety-conscious around chemicals and plant equipment.
- Physically able for site work, including walking the plant, carrying samples and handling equipment.
Useful Experience
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
- Chemistry, science, laboratory or environmental testing.
- Water treatment or wastewater treatment.
- Industrial, power, pharma, food, beverage or utilities site work.
- Chemical handling.
- Manual handling or forklift experience.
- RO, demineralisation, boiler water or cooling water testing.
