Purpose of the Post
As an Emergency Department Locum Clerical Officer, the post holder will provide clerical support by covering scheduled and unscheduled absence across multiple departments:

Emergency Department (ED)

Mercy Injury Unit Gurranbraher (MIUG)

Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU)
-
Pre-Assessment Clinic (PAC).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Register and Discharge patients accordingly on iPMS.
-
Ensure patient record on iPMS has relevant and up to date information.
-
Admit patients to main hospital ward via iPMS.
-
Ensure correct healthcare insurance documentation is signed for private admissions.
-
Liaise with Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) and Ward Clerks.
-
Create a patient Kardex or patient healthcare record on iPMS.
-
Tracking patient kardex and healthcare records on iPMS.
-
Liaise with Medical Records Department.
-
When rostered - attend ED Medical Huddle and complete updates on iPMS
-
Answer ED Phone and act accordingly.
-
Monitor the Staff Rota daily.
-
Liaise with medical secretaries for consultants.
-
Answer telephone queries from members of the public, other hospitals and GPs.
-
Liaise with Ambulance Crew and register incoming patients.
-
Process referrals out of scope and in scope.

Assist with Departmental Statistics and Reports.

Process Payments of cash, card/ or cheque.
-
Ensure weekly/daily lists are printed and visible for Consultant On-Call Lists, Rotas and NCHD Bleep List.

Order records and arrange collections with our service provider.

Daily filing and sorting of patient Kardex.
-
Distribute internal post.
-
Assist with new hire training and provide feedback to Line Manager.

General Reception duties.
-
Any other duties that may be assigned by the Line Manager.
Eligibility Criteria:

Hold a relevant Administration qualification.

Previous administrative experience of at least two years required.

Previous customer facing experience essential.

iPMS experience desirable.
