Position Overview
Join our team at Rothe House & Garden, one of Kilkenny’s key heritage sites on the Medieval Mile, where you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, tidy and welcoming environment for our visitors and staff. You will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness across various areas of our visitor experience, including toilets, exhibition areas, event spaces and common areas.
About Rothe House
Rothe House is a 17th century Merchant's townhouse with restored walled garden. We welcome visitors from all over the world to our unique property and are responsible for the upkeep of this building of national significance, including the sensitive maintenance of its numerous features.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Maintaining a high level of attention to the heritage nature of the property and the furniture and artefacts within.
- Maintaining a safe working environment for self and others and adhering to all relevant health and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Vacuuming/sweeping/mopping as required
- Dusting and polishing furniture
- Cleaning toilet facilities, including sinks, toilets and floors
- Cleaning and polishing interior/exterior glass doors, cabinets etc.
- Maintain cleanliness of museum case and display areas
- Monitor cleaning supplies and complete order forms as required
- Rubbish collection and disposal
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and protocols
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly
- Other ad hoc duties as may be reasonably required under the scope of the job
- Promote positive practices in relation to recycling and sustainability
About you
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning or housekeeping is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
- Flexible, honest and reliable
Working Schedule: The work schedule is 8 hours per week split over 2/3 days, depending on the needs of the business. Times to be agreed with the successful candidate.
