Full-time, permanent (39 hours)
The role of the Labour Exploitation Caseworker is to provide supports and direct representation to migrant workers who have faced labour exploitation and other labour rights matters, including potential and actual victims of trafficking for labour exploitation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide information, guidance, and representation for people who have experienced exploitation at work including bringing of formal complaints to Workplace Relations Bodies (e.g. WRC and Labour Court).
· Work closely with other MRCI staff to screen and advise on employment rights queries and make referrals.
· Provide associated supports and advocacy to people on issues related to employment rights cases such as employment permits, immigration, social welfare, etc.
· Carry out assessments of potential human trafficking cases and, where required, provide written referrals to the Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-ordination Unit (HTICU).
Person specifications
Essential:
· Experience in the Irish context of advocacy or casework in immigration, employment or a related field.
· Experience providing casework, advocacy, or representation to individuals experiencing complex issues.
· A degree-level qualification in Law, Human Rights, Social Rights, Social Policy or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant knowledge, skills and professional experience.
· Proven ability to assess needs, risks and vulnerabilities, develop appropriate support responses, and work sensitively with people.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate, negotiate and liaise effectively with individuals, employers and statutory agencies.
· Strong commitment to tackling injustice, anti-racism and advancing migrant worker rights.
· Strong organisational and case-management skills and ability to prioritise cases and manage a varied caseload.
· Experience using technology for documentation, data management, and virtual communication.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable:
· Direct experience working with people who have faced exploitation at work including potential or confirmed victims of trafficking for labour exploitation.
· Working knowledge of Irish employment rights and legislation.
· Experience preparing employment rights complaints and representing workers before the WRC or Labour Court.
· Understanding of offences associated with labour exploitation, such as unlawful recruitment fees, fraud, theft, forced labour or other forms of exploitation.
· Working knowledge of additional languages.
· Working knowledge of Ireland’s immigration and employment permit system.
· Experience of identifying and advancing strategic cases for collective outcomes.
· Familiarity with tracking cases through case management systems.
· Experience carrying out data analysis to feed into policy and legislative development.
Pay: €43,000.00-€53,000.00 per year
