DESCRIPTION AND VISION OF SERVICES
Corlann West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by services, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by services to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. We are committed to supporting people to live a life of their choosing.
Caislean Services provide a range of community-based services including day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in various types of day settings day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups with different staffing support levels depending on their levels of disability. Our Services are person centred focusing on the needs and abilities of adults with intellectual disabilities and autism. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to form friendships.

The Role:
The Team Leader has a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of services.
The Team Leader will provide leadership and supervision to teams while ensuring the development of the service in line with national standards and best practice.
The main responsibilities are to assist the Team Manager with the management of Corlann, such as person centred planning in line with Personal Outcome Measures ethos and practice, resource management and staffing - including rosters, staff development, facilitating communication and professional leadership in order to ensure a good quality of life for the people supported.
It is the Team Leaders responsibility to ensure that the life of each person reflects the organisations core values:

- Promoting friendships and relationships in ordinary places in the community and making a contribution
Reporting To/ Responsible To:
Team Manager/Service Coordinator or delegate
Qualifications/Experience:
- A relevant 3rd level qualification in the Social Care or Health Sector e.g. Nursing qualification and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI orSocial Care qualification and be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board - CORU Or Be eligible under the Section 91 (existing practitioner) route for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board -CORU (evidence of application status is necessary)
- An appropriate Health Management qualification is desirable (QQI Level 6). On appointment, if the successful candidate does not already hold such a qualification, they must undertake to complete an appropriate management course within a specified time-frame.
- Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrating proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is an advantage.
- A minimum of three 3 years post qualification experience, working with people with an Intellectual Disability is essential.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities with experience in the area of human rights and advocacy.
- Experience of working in the area of autism and behaviours of concern would be an advantage.
Skills:
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership and communication and team working skills.
- Knowledge and experience managing peoples well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning e.g. Personal Outcome Measures.
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities, the Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities) Regulations 2013 and New Directions for Day Services.
- Must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, be creative and self-motivated, communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy
- A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement.
- Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
Working Hours:
Contracted hours will depend on the grade of the successful candidate - i.e. 78 hours a fortnight (SCL grade) or 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade) rostered flexibly on a 7 day duty roster.
The Team leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time to carry out specific team leader duties.
In addition, a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment may be a requirement of posts in residential services for which the appropriate allowance will be paid
Corlanns model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave:
Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1. Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Team Manager to ensure appropriate and adequate cover is provided for the service.
Remuneration:
Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1.
Tenure:
This post is a permanent full time & pensionable.
Probation:
A probationary period of 9 months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.
