Operations Manager — Clarkes of Cavan
Location: Moynehall Retail Park, Cavan Type: Full-time, permanent
Clarkes of Cavan is a long-established, multi-department business covering agricultural machinery, hardware, and retail. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of the business — the person who makes sure every department is running smoothly, staff are supported and accountable, and the store itself is always presented the way it should be.
You'll work closely with department heads to keep things consistent, compliant, and well run.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with department heads to ensure each department is operating efficiently and meeting company standards
- Conduct regular department inspections, identifying and addressing issues such as untidy areas, empty displays, missing catalogues, signage, pricing or presentation
- Monitor and improve day-to-day operational efficiency across all departments
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and recurring problems and put practical solutions in place
- Ensure company procedures and operational policies are consistently implemented across departments
- Monitor standards across the retail, workshop, warehouse, online and external areas of the business
- Health & safety compliance across the site, full training will be provided
- Coordinate with department heads to ensure stock, displays, equipment and customer-facing areas are maintained to a high standard
- Monitor and improve processes between sales, workshop, PDI, warehouse and other departments to ensure a smooth customer journey
- Assist with the management and organisation of the company vehicle fleet, including insurance, renewals, servicing and general compliance
- Liaise daily with the General Manager, providing clear and timely updates on operational issues, priorities and improvements
- Continuously look for ways to improve customer experience, productivity, communication and overall business performance
- Review regular sales, margin, profitability and cost reports across departments
- Monitor turnover, gross margin and departmental performance
· Analyse stock levels, stock turnover and aged stock to improve cash flow and reduce tied-up capital
· Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve margins and increase profitability
· Prepare regular operational and financial reports for management, highlighting key issues, trends and areas for improvement
You’ll be a good fit if you:
- Have experience in operations or a similar hands-on environment
- Have a strong understanding of how a busy multi-department business operates
- Are highly organised and able to manage multiple departments and priorities
- Have a practical, hands-on approach and are comfortable getting involved where needed
- Can delegate effectively while maintaining clear accountability
- Have strong attention to detail and a focus on maintaining high standards
