Reports to: Operations Manager / Assistant Operations Manager
Direct reports: Team Leads and Shift Supervisors
Type: Full-time
Salary: Based on experience
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and driven Fulfilment Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day pick, pack and dispatch operation. Sitting between the Operations Management team and our Team Leads, this is a pivotal leadership role — the link that turns operational strategy into consistent, on-the-floor delivery.
You will lead and develop our Team Leads and Supervisors, ensuring every client order is processed accurately and shipped on time, in line with agreed service levels. This is an ideal opportunity for a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced fulfilment environment, takes pride in operational excellence, and wants to grow their career within a busy, expanding 3PL business.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Own the end-to-end pick, pack and dispatch operation across both e-commerce and retail, ensuring orders are processed accurately and shipped within agreed client SLAs.
- Provide a clear daily plan and direction to Team Leads and Supervisors, allocating resources to match workload and deadlines.
- Act as the key link between the Operations Manager / Assistant Operations Manager and the floor, translating operational priorities into action and escalating issues early.
- Monitor productivity throughout the day, set and review targets for Team Leads, and step in to resolve bottlenecks or backlogs as they arise.
- Ensure carrier pallets are wrapped, manifested and ready at the collection point ahead of driver arrival, and that carrier options are used correctly for each client.
- Monitor carrier performance against their SLAs, holding carriers to account on collection times and service levels, and escalating persistent issues.
- Schedule and manage carrier collections throughout the day, ensuring enough collections are booked to clear volumes and that every collection window is met.
Team Management & Development
- Lead, coach and motivate Team Leads and Supervisors to deliver consistent performance, accuracy and a positive team culture.
- Set clear expectations, hold regular check-ins, and give structured feedback to develop the leadership capability of the team beneath you.
- Oversee staff training — onboarding, ongoing development, client-specific picking and packing requirements, carrier processes, scanning and equipment use.
- Manage workforce planning, rotas and absence cover in partnership with the Operations Management team.
Client & SLA Management
- Take ownership of fulfilment service levels, ensuring each client's delivery deadlines and special requirements are consistently met.
- Liaise directly with clients on order priorities, booking slots, special instructions and any queries, building strong working relationships.
- Monitor client mailboxes and instructions, ensuring special-instruction orders are flagged and actioned correctly by the team.
- Work closely with Goods In and Stock Control on replens, stock transfers and missing stock so that orders ship to their fullest.
Reporting & Performance
- Ensure the daily plan and key reports (picker sheets, stockless / stock-missing reports and end-of-day reports) are produced and circulated on time.
- Use productivity and order reporting to track performance, identify trends and drive efficiency.
- Report daily and weekly on fulfilment volumes, SLA performance and key metrics to the Operations Management team.
- Attend weekly senior management meetings, contributing operational insight and following up on agreed actions.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Review existing processes and identify opportunities to streamline pick, pack and dispatch, working with management to develop and roll out SOPs.
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring the team works in a clean, safe environment and adheres to all site health and safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards and client requirements at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a fulfilment, warehouse or logistics operation, including at least 2 years in a team lead, supervisory or management role.
- Proven leadership experience — managing and developing supervisors or team leads, not just operatives.
- Experience within a fulfilment, e-commerce, retail or 3PL environment, with a strong understanding of pick, pack and dispatch and carrier processes.
- Confident using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Microsoft Office, with strong reporting and numeracy skills.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients.
- Calm and effective under pressure, able to prioritise and re-plan in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a strong focus on accuracy.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, based on experience.
- A pivotal leadership role with real ownership and visibility to senior management.
- Clear opportunities for progression and professional development within a growing business.
- A supportive, collaborative working environment.
- On-site parking and staff facilities.
- The chance to be part of a dynamic and expanding logistics company.
