What You'll Be Doing:
Employee Relations Business Partnering
-
Act as the organisation's subject matter expert and key point of escalation for complex Employee Relations, Employment Law and Industrial Relations matters.

Partner with senior leaders, managers and HR colleagues to provide practical, commercially focused advice on complex and sensitive employment matters.

Manage complex grievance, disciplinary, capability, dignity at work, absence and other Employee Relations matters from initial assessment through to resolution.

Lead and support complex workplace investigations, ensuring procedural fairness, consistency and compliance with employment legislation and company policy.

Coach and support managers to effectively manage employee relations issues, balancing employee experience, business requirements and legal risk.

Provide expert advice on organisational change, including restructuring, consultation, redundancy and other employment-related change processes.

Maintain appropriate independence, confidentiality, integrity and professional judgement across all Employee Relations activity.
ER Governance, Policy & Compliance
-
Partner with Legal and HR colleagues to ensure Employee Relations practices remain compliant with Irish employment legislation and emerging case law.

Review and develop Employee Relations policies, procedures and guidance to support consistent and effective practice across the organisation.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise the business on their implications and any required changes.

Identify opportunities to simplify and improve Employee Relations processes and ways of working.

Develop practical toolkits, guidance and frameworks to enable managers to manage Employee Relations matters confidently and consistently.
ER Insights & Organisational Risk

Identify trends, themes and emerging risks across Employee Relations activity and recommend appropriate interventions.

Develop meaningful Employee Relations metrics and reporting for HR and senior leadership.
-
Analyse data relating to grievances, disciplinaries, investigations, absence, turnover and other relevant activity to identify organisational risks and opportunities.

Use ER insights to inform improvements in policy, management capability and employee experience.
-
Maintain accurate and confidential Employee Relations records in accordance with GDPR and company requirements.
Management Capability
-
Build management capability in Employee Relations through coaching, practical guidance and knowledge sharing.
-
Design and deliver practical ER training for managers in areas including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, performance and capability management, difficult conversations and employment law.

Provide managers and HR colleagues with relevant updates on legislative developments, case law and emerging Employee Relations best practice.
-
Promote early intervention and effective informal resolution of workplace issues where appropriate.
Industrial Relations
-
Act as a key organisational contact for Industrial Relations matters and support the development of a constructive and effective employee relations approach.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with recognised Trade Unions and employee representative groups.
-
Represent PHX Ireland in negotiations, consultations and discussions with Trade Unions and employee representatives.
-
Represent and support the organisation in matters before external bodies, including the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court, as required.

Provide expert ER/IR support to organisational change programmes requiring formal consultation or negotiation.
Employee Engagement & Culture
-
Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to identify Employee Relations themes arising from employee feedback and engagement activity.

Provide ER expertise and insight to support actions that strengthen employee engagement, trust and positive workplace relationships.

Work with Internal Communications and HR colleagues to ensure Employee Relations policies, guidance and key messages are communicated clearly and consistently.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Employment Law or a related discipline.
-
Significant Employee Relations experience within a large and complex organisation, ideally within retail, healthcare, wholesale, distribution or another multi-site environment.
-
Demonstrated experience managing complex and sensitive Employee Relations matters from initial assessment through to resolution.
-
Strong and current knowledge of Irish employment legislation, employment law and Employee Relations best practice.
-
Strong Industrial Relations experience, including engagement and negotiation with Trade Unions and employee representatives.
-
Experience representing or supporting an organisation in matters before the Workplace Relations Commission and/or Labour Court.
-
Experience advising senior leaders on high-risk, complex and commercially sensitive employment matters.
-
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal risk, employee experience and business requirements.
-
Excellent influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to build trusted relationships at all organisational levels.

Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify trends, assess organisational risk and translate insights into practical recommendations.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
-
High levels of integrity, professionalism, judgement and discretion.
-
Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of a varied and complex ER caseload.

Typically 8+ years' relevant HR experience, with substantial experience specialising in Employee Relations and/or Industrial Relations.
