Position Summary
The Quality Monitor is an entry-level quality role responsible for carrying out routine product quality and food safety checks during production.
The role involves completing scheduled line checks, maintaining accurate records, identifying and isolating potentially non-conforming products, and reporting concerns to the appropriate supervisor or manager. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all hourly, half-hourly, and scheduled product quality checks.
- Check products against approved specifications, including appearance, weight, packaging, labelling, date codes, and batch codes.
- Record all checks accurately and report any missed checks, defects, deviations, or unusual results.
- Monitor GMP, hygiene, allergen control, housekeeping, and food safety standards on the production floor.
- Identify, isolate, label, and record any potentially non-conforming product, ingredient, or packaging.
- Escalate quality or food safety concerns promptly to the relevant Production Supervisor or Quality Manager.
- Support investigations by providing relevant records, samples, photographs, and product information.
- Assist with corrective and preventive actions and report any recurring or unresolved issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, traceability information, procedures, and specifications.
- Assist with internal audits, external audits, production trials, and quality improvement projects where required.
- Provide a clear handover on isolated stock, outstanding issues, incomplete records, and required follow-up actions.
- Work closely with Production, Hygiene, Warehouse, Engineering, and the wider Quality Team.
- Attend all required quality, food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and GMP training.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or quality is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- An interest in food safety, product quality, and working in a food-production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to complete accurate and clear records.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to raise concerns and report issues promptly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn internal quality systems.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently once trained.
