Job Title: Social Care Leader – Children’s Residential Service, Sligo Town (SCSIP)
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Social Care Leader to join our team and lead our children’s residential service. As a Social Care Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to unaccompanied minors seeking international protection in need of a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership and management to a team of social care workers.
- Develop and implement care plans, ensuring they meet the individual needs of each child
- Support and guide the team in delivering person-centred care and support.
- Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusion within the residential service.
- Collaborate with external agencies, families, and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care practices and implement improvements when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, including assessments, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- A recognised Level 7/Level 8 degree in Social Care, Social Work, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification)
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in a children’s residential service, including experience in a key working role
- Sound knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and safeguarding procedures
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with best practices in social care.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a Social Care Leader or senior role
- Experience working with unaccompanied minors or within regulated residential services
