Role Summary
The Commissioning Technician/engineer is responsible for carrying out onsite HVAC commissioning activities, primarily focused on testing and balancing air and water systems. Working as part of a commissioning team, the technician ensures systems are installed, tested, and verified in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform onsite Testing & Balancing (TAB) of air and hydronic (water) distribution systems.
- Conduct air balancing of ventilation systems and water balancing of heating and chilled water systems.
- Carry out flushing and cleaning of pipework systems in accordance with BSRIA standards.
- Review HVAC drawings and specifications prior to commissioning activities.
- Generate commissioning plans and test procedures aligned with project requirements.
- Track commissioning progress and identify system defects or performance issues.
- Troubleshoot problems encountered during air and water balancing activities.
- Produce detailed, accurate commissioning reports and test documentation.
- Deliver test data in compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Assist other technical departments when required. • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality while onsite.
Essential Experience & Criteria
- Several years’ experience in HVAC commissioning or a similar mechanical services role.
- Proven experience in air and water balancing.
- Experience with BSRIA standard flushing procedures.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical services systems.
- Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s licence (site travel required).
