The Commis Chef Role
We are looking for an experienced, full-time Commis Chef to join our team. This role will be based across one of our three café locations in Dublin 4 and Dublin 2.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about food and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring service runs smoothly while maintaining a positive, professional, and team-focused presence in the kitchen.
While this role is primarily kitchen-based, strong communication with the front-of-house team is essential to ensure smooth service and a consistent, high-quality experience for our customers.
Our Commis Chefs play a key role in the business, helping to prepare and deliver the food we serve every day. Collaboration between the kitchen and front-of-house teams is essential to ensure quality, consistency, and efficient service.
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable, and team-oriented, with a genuine passion for working with fresh, seasonal produce to deliver high-quality food. The ideal candidate will also be eager to grow with the company, contributing ideas towards menu development and new product creation as part of a growing team.
Responsibilities
· Assist with food preparation, including washing, chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients
· Prepare salads, sandwiches, pizzas, sauces, and other dishes as required
· Support the fast-paced preparation of breakfast and lunch service,including baking off pastries and breads
· Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs, with a willingness to learn and develop skills
· Ensure food is prepared consistently to a high standard in both quality and presentation
· Maintain a high level of presentation, producing aesthetically pleasing and well-balanced dishes
· Ensure compliance with HACCP procedures and food safety standards (experience required)
· Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and well stocked at all times
· Correctly store, label, and manage food stock following food safety guidelines
· Maintain clean and organised preparation areas
· Work closely with the front-of-house team, assisting when required during busy periods
· Ensure orders, catering items, and display food are prepared and ready on time
· Double-check that orders are accurate before dispatch
· Maintain clear and strong communication with the FOH team to ensure smoothservice
· Show a keen interest in developing skills, learning new techniques, and contributing ideas for menu and product development
· Demonstrate a strong understanding of kitchen operations and workflow
· Maintain a positive attitude and genuine passion for food and hospitality
· Uphold excellent cleaning standards throughout the kitchen
Requirements
· Minimum 1 year or more experience in a similar role (please do not apply if you do not have this experience).
· Ability to work well under pressure in a busy, high-paced kitchen environment.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· A genuine passion for food and creativity.
· Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently.
· High level of organisation and scheduling skills.
· Experience working in a kitchen team environment with fresh produce.
· Experience baking pastries.
· Fluent spoken English.
· Ability to work as part of a team and build strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
· A positive and hospitable attitude, representing the company and brand.
· Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
· Full-time availability, with flexibility to work up to 40 hours over a 7-day period.
· A willingness to learn, grow, and develop skills within the company.
