About Greenhill Fruit Farm
Greenhill Fruit Farm is one of Ireland's leading soft fruit producers, growing premium fruit in Wexford. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanic to join our maintenance team and ensure our machinery and equipment remain in excellent working condition throughout the season.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of our fleet and agricultural and heavy machinery to minimise downtime and support the efficient operation of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on fleet vehicles, as well as agricultural and heavy machinery.
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain tractors, forklifts, telehandlers, trailers and other farm equipment.
- Repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns during busy production periods.
- Keep accurate maintenance and service records.
- Work with the farm management team to schedule servicing and repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Assist with fabrication and welding repairs where required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a mechanic working on heavy machinery or agricultural equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Desirable
- Agricultural machinery experience.
- Trade qualified.
- Diesel fitting experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift, telehandler or tractor driving experience.
- Relevant mechanical qualification (QQI/City & Guilds/Apprenticeship or equivalent).
