Main Purpose of Role:
DLDC is recruiting a Community Transport Driver to join our team on a temporary basis to provide cover during a period of leave. The role is expected to last approximately three months, although this may vary depending on operational requirements. The position is subject to funding and will conclude when the cover requirement ends or the substantive postholder returns to work.
DLDC also plans to create a panel from this recruitment process. Candidates who are considered suitable may be placed on the panel and may be contacted about future temporary, part-time, or casual cover driving opportunities as they arise, subject to operational needs and funding. The successful postholder may also be included on the panel for consideration for future opportunities.
Conditions of Work:
· The Driver will initially be required to work 21 hours per week, normally over 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday), during standard operating hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm.
· Flexibility is required to cover community events outside of the schedule subject to reasonable notice and agreement.
· This is a specified purpose fixed term contract to cover leave of absence for approximately three months; however, the duration may change depending on operational needs.
· €16.50 per hour.

Main Duties
The role involves providing safe and reliable bus transport for community groups and individuals across County Donegal. As part of DLDC's Community Development Team, you will support people in accessing community events, training programmes, activities, and other local services by driving the DLDC 16-seater community bus.
You will ensure passengers travel safely and comfortably while delivering a friendly and professional service. The job includes carrying out vehicle safety checks, maintaining records, assisting passengers as required, and supporting the day-to-day operation of the Community Transport Service, including transport bookings, journey scheduling and basic administrative tasks.
Experience Required
· Full Clean Category D – (Bus) Driving Licence with no penalty points, accidents/claims or convictions.
· Applicants must be eligible to drive in Ireland and must hold an updated Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), this is a valid qualification required for certain professional drivers in Ireland.
· The successful candidate must be eligible to drive DLDC vehicles in accordance with the organisation's motor insurance requirements, which currently require drivers to be at least 25 years of age. This position is also subject to DLDC's policies and procedures, including the organisation's normal retirement age.
· Good communication and customer service skills.
· A caring, patient and respectful approach to working with people.
· The ability to work independently and take responsibility for passenger safety.
· Basic record-keeping and scheduling skills.
