Due to our continued growth, OCC is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop a progressive accounting career within a growing construction company. The successful candidate will support the day to day finance function across a broad range of accounting and compliance activities including RCT, VAT, reconciliations, subcontractor payments and general ledger work.
This role would suit someone who is keen to build strong practical accounting experience within a busy construction environment with clear opportunities to develop and take on greater responsibility as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities;
- Prepare and process RCT notifications, deductions and returns.
- Maintain accurate subcontractor tax and compliance records.
- Ensure appropriate RCT requirements are completed prior to subcontractor payments.
- Prepare and process subcontractor payments.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Complete bank reconciliations across company accounts.
- Complete general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with supplier payment runs and day to day accounts payable activities.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, Quantity Surveyors and project teams regarding payment and account queries.
- Assist with monthly management accounts and month end processes.
- Support project cost reconciliations and financial reporting across live construction projects.
- Support year end account preparation and external audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with Revenue queries and other finance compliance requirements.
- Allocate payroll costs across projects and cost centres based on payroll reports.
- Support the Finance team with general accounting duties and ad hoc reporting as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience;
- Third level qualification in Accounting, Finance or studying towards a relevant professional accounting qualification.
- Minimum 2+ year experience.
- Knowledge of RCT, VAT and ROS would be beneficial.
- Construction industry experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Experience using accounting or financial software.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow tasks through to completion.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors.
