The Role
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Porter to join our team. The porter plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This is a hands-on position that supports the day-to-day running of the hostel and contributes directly to the wellbeing of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and order in all communal and external areas of the hostel.
- Carry out routine safety and security checks, ensuring doors, alarms, and equipment are functioning properly.
- Support residents with practical needs such as moving belongings or accessing facilities.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
- Assist with deliveries, supplies, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Report repairs or health and safety concerns promptly to management.
- Work collaboratively with hostel staff to uphold a positive and respectful environment.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a hostel, facilities, security, or care setting is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends & nights as part of a rota.
