Senior Event Lighting Technician – Job Specification
The main function of the Senior Event Lighting Technician is to lead the technical lighting delivery of live events, including the programming, setup, operation, and de-rig of lighting and LED display systems at venues nationwide.
The role involves working closely with the Event Manager, technical team, and clients to ensure high-quality lighting design and execution for a wide range of events including corporate productions, conferences, live shows, and special events.
This position is somewhat client-facing and requires a strong customer-focused approach, the ability to work under pressure, and consistently deliver a professional technical service.
The Senior Event Lighting Technician plays a key role in pre-event planning, lighting design, equipment preparation, on-site technical delivery, and post-event breakdown.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, programming, operation, and de-rig of lighting systems for live events.
- Program and operate lighting consoles including ChamSys MagicQ and Avolites.
- Configure and troubleshoot DMX networks and lighting control systems.
- Interpret event briefs and collaborate with the production team to develop creative lighting solutions.
- Conduct equipment preparation, testing, and maintenance prior to events.
- Supervise and support Assistant Event Technicians during event builds and derigs.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting during live events.
- Assist with technical planning, logistics, and equipment management.
Qualities / Experience
- Strong knowledge of the live events and production industry.
- Proven experience working as a lighting technician in live events, concerts, or corporate productions.
- Hands-on experience with ChamSys and Avolites lighting consoles.
- Strong understanding of DMX addressing, universes, networking, and signal flow.
- Experience with LED wall setup, mapping, and video signal distribution.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience working as part of a technical team with a collaborative approach.
- A proactive “get stuck in” attitude and passion for delivering high-quality events.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends and overnight.
Requirements
- Full Clean Driving Licence (essential)
- Experience in event lighting, production, or live events technical roles
- Knowledge of lighting rigging, truss systems, and power distribution
- Experience with event production environments and touring setups (desirable)

Pay: €45,000.00-€50,000.00 per year
